Our Community

Longarm Quilting Lab (LQL) is a place to learn, grow, and expand your skills and knowledge in all areas of quilting.

Created for you by Sarah Evans, a professional longarmer and quilting teacher, LQL is a membership-based quilter's maker space.

To support your learning and create space for your skills to level-up, we have high quality machines and tools to optimize your experience as well as classes and experiences for all levels of people who know how to sew and want to quilt.

A person positive environment, LQL is, most importantly, a place for quilters to gather to create art and community.

You must be a member to take classes, including long arm certification and to be able to rent time on our longarm machine.

  • Pay as You Go Member - $10/month

    This is ideal for folks outside the Chicago area who want to drop in for workshops, take the one-time longarm certification class, rent time on the longarm machines, and generally stay in the loop about what’s happening at LQL.  

  • Standard Member - $30/month

    Access to all the benefits of Pay as You Go Membership, plus:

    • Longarm Rentals - Starting with a $280 Longarm Certification class

    • Discounted class rates, starting at $235 for a 4-week class

    • Open Studio - $5/session

    • Access to our Discord community! We will use this platform to facilitate members-only events & meet-ups, troubleshoot sewing questions, and community building.

  • Super Member - $50/month

    Access to all the benefits of Standard Membership, plus:

    • Longarm Rentals - Starting with a $275 Longarm Certification class

    • Steeply discounted class rates, starting at $225 for a 4-week class

    • Open Studio sessions are included in this membership tier

    • Early access to special events

    • Warm fuzzies for helping to fund our Equity Pricing initiative

    • If paid yearly, one locker in the classroom is provided, while supplies last ($120 value)
